If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to annoy visitors to your blog, don’t put the timestamp on your blog posts.
Here’s an example of what can happen when you don’t use the timestamp.
This morning I spent 4 minutes reading an article that was linked on Twitter. The article was regarding a Google announcement that it was laying off 200 sales-and-marketing employees. Interesting news, right?
When I finished reading the post, I clicked through to a link for a Bloomberg article about the announcement. The timestamp on the Bloomberg article is March 26, 2009.
Thanks for wasting 4 minutes of my life!
That’s not the impression you want to leave with your blog visitors.
